Last Straw

This is video of Oak­land police­man Johannes Meh­serle shoot­ing an unarmed man, Oscar Grant, while he lay face down on the ground.

Update: I just had someone email me to say Meh­serle is not a cow­ard because he mis­taken his gun a for a taser. So, how­ever unlikely that sounds, let’s sup­pose for a long minute that Meh­serle mis­taken his gun for a taser. So they have a guy lying face down on the ground, he has time to let go of him and to grab a weapon and dis­charge the weapon. And he’s not a cow­ard because he thought the weapon was a taser? Please.

This cop was clearly being a cow­ard and now a man is dead because of it. There was no reason to get any weapon out. From watch­ing the video it looks like he was sur­prised that his gun when off. Whatever he was think­ing there’s a just path from here on out and there’s an unjust path. Judging from past judge­ments in the U.S. in sim­ilar cases the unjust path will be taken.
