UK election: statement on the thousands of voters turned away

Statement from the UK Electoral Commission:

There should have been sufficient resources allocated to ensure that everyone who wished to vote was able to do so.

The Electoral Commission will be undertaking a thorough review of what has happened in those constituencies where people have been unable to vote.

We would like to hear directly from voters on their experiences to help in our review. Please email us at info@electoralcommission.org.uk.

When submitting information to us, it would be helpful if you could include the following if possible:

  • The name of the constituency you voted in
  • The time you arrived at your polling station
  • The location of your polling station
  • Any problems you encountered when trying to cast your vote

Update: The Guardian has a map with a breakdown of all the problems that occurred around the country on polling day.
